When I first learned of GLASC, I was not entirely sure if the organization deeply aligned with my company, Arcem Solutions. I suspected some, as we work with some of the same industries that participate, but I mostly went out of curiosity. After the first meeting, I left with clear intersection. And, a vision.

GLASC is for everyone. I can say that because if you have:
• Employees
• You work with customers where workplace safety or employee wellness is important
• You have a limited knowledge regarding safety, best practices, and employee wellness
• Your organization could benefit from learning leadership and communication styles to promote successful process implementation

then you will gain something from attending GLASC meetings.

Monthly meetings are not the only incredible thing GLASC offers. The GLASC Annual Expo was a new experience for me and I wasn't sure originally it would be the best use of my time, due to internal demands. Yet, there was so much to learn, new contacts to make, and a jam-packed schedule for education while meeting the sponsors and vendors. I learned about new products and features I did not know existed, was educated about topics that I would not have otherwise had knowledge of, and learned what an amazing impact is being made to make work life more sustainable. The Expo is set up to ensure you learn as much as possible and gain valuable connections, across industries. Now, I have it annually book marked on my calendar so I won't miss it.

Through our involvement with GLASC, Arcem has been able to add value to our customer base, create meaningful and rich conversations with prospects and colleagues alike, and learn more holistically about some of the problems our customers face. We care about community impact – GLASC built in donations to local nonprofits as part of the Expo ticket and end of year goals. By participating in GLASC, you are not just "sitting there" for lunch once a month. You are driving change across your community and organization.

This is why GLASC is for everyone. As someone outside the traditional safety profession, I never expected GLASC to influence the way I think about technology. However, I had light bulb moments about our own organization and solving problems for our customers due to the topics shared in each meeting. GLASC meetings mean culture is being cultivated, not check listed.

Throughout my daily life I now take things I learned in GLASC and apply them. When I did the Indy Mini, I was curious how the hydration stations were set up. To my delight, they were using the same ratio discussed in the meeting the month prior for water:electrolytes. I took a field trip with my daughter and saw some workers clambering up a metal tower with harnesses. Maybe she eye rolled a bit, but I was able, from things I learned in our meetings, to share with her what was being done correctly and what needed adjusting. Maybe that won't impact her today, but knowing there is a proper way to do things will impact her long term. And, she was interested in the type of work they were doing. (Let's slip that under workforce development. Great job, GLASC)

So yes, GLASC is for you. Come to our next meeting and see. You'll come away physically fed and professionally fueled.

“Being a member of the Greater Lafayette Area Safety Council has been a great benefit to me professionally. It has given me the opportunity to stay current on important safety topics, learn from other local safety professionals, and build connections with people who are equally committed to protecting employees and strengthening workplace safety. The council has been a valuable resource for both professional growth and practical support.”

"GLASC has been instrumental in my career. The monthly meetings along with the Annual Expo is a hands-on way to learn new strategies, keep up with technology, and help stay ahead of new regulations and policies. However, by far the biggest benefit to my time here is the connections I have been able to make. Networking with peers, partners and yes even competitors are relationships that stay throughout your career. I would not be where I am now without the benefits of GLASC participation."

"Being a member of the Greater Lafayette Area Safety Council (GLASC) has been an invaluable part of my professional growth as an EHS leader. GLASC provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with safety professionals across multiple industries, creating an environment where best practices, lessons learned, and innovative safety strategies are openly shared."
