The meeting was called to order by President, Paul Felkey, followed by an introduction of all present.

Thanks to Cintas for hosting the August meeting, providing lunch, and their presentation on First Aid kits/supplies.  Thank you also to Ivy Tech for providing the facilities.  The gift certificates for Cintas will be sent via mail.

At the last meeting, the Council installed Mike Holley as Treasurer, replacing Rob Outhouse.  The Council would like to thank Mr. Outhouse for his service and we wish him well in his new endeavors.

With Mr. Holley assuming the Treasurer’s role, the Council needs to fill the vacant Trustee position.  Any Council member interested in serving as Trustee should contact an officer.

Mr. Holley provided the Treasurer’s report.  As of 9/5/2008, the account balance was $2750.39.  Mail at the PO Box was not collected for a period of time.  Any member that has any issues with dues checks should contact an officer.

Nominations for 2009 officers will be accepted at the October meeting.

Members should check their company information on the website for accuracy.

At the conclusion of today’s presentation, SIA will offer a tour of the facility.

The business meeting concluded and Mr. Felkey introduced today’s educational topic and speaker.  Mr. Dave Thomas, Fire Prevention Bureau, Lafayette Fire Department, gave a presentation on Fire Inspections.  The presentation covered seven main areas:  Fire Extinguishers; Use of Extension Cords; Electrical Service Equipment; Alarms/Sprinkler Systems; Ceilings; Egress/Exits/Emergency Lighting; Active & Passive Fire Protection.

The next meeting is scheduled for October 8^th, hosted by Safety Solutions (Mike Boone)and presentation by OKI systems.  The topic will be Forklift Accident Investigations.  The location is TBD.

The November meeting is scheduled for the 12^th – additional details will be forthcoming.

The Annual Meeting will be held on December 10^th.  Mark your calendars!
