bulletSpeaker:  Paul Lorkowski – Capital Safety
bulletTopic:  Proposed changes to ANSI Z359.1 standard
bulletMain change:  gate strength from 220# to 3600#.
bulletGate face: 220# to 3600#.
bulletSide of gate: 350# to 3600#.
bulletPassed “old” & “new” gates around room for review.
bulletNew ratings will be stamped on gate.
bulletFront “D” on harness can now be used for fall arrest.
bulletTwin leg lanyards…minimum of 5,000# break strength.  Connect only center snap hook to fall arrest attachment.
bulletThe term “user” has been clarified by “competent”, “qualified”, and “authorized” persons.
bulletIf one or more persons are routinely exposed to fall hazards, a comprehensive managed fall protection program is required.
bulletIntroduced new “tie back” lanyard.
bulletDuties and responsibilities were discussed for each person associated with comprehensive fall protection program.
bulletAnchorage system: Minimum 5,000#. 
bulletRule of thumb – anchor point must be able to support weight of pick up truck.
bulletAddressed rescue procedures when needed and what is required.
bulletSystems, sub-systems, and components required for rescue.
bulletDiscussed increased awareness in the values of expanded fall protection standard.
