bulletMeeting called to order by Paul Felkey at 12:05 p.m.
bulletAndy Parker went over emergency procedures & restrooms.
bulletPaul thanked John Weldin & Caterpillar Logistics for hosting and Caterpillar for providing the facility for today’s meeting.
bulletSign in sheets.

bulletIntroductions.
bulletPaul thanked Mark Kirby and TEMA for hosting last month’s meeting.


 

New Business: 

bulletTreasurer’s report.  There have been no changes.
bulletAndy Parker is taking another position with Caterpillar.  The treasurer’s position is available.  Also, John Dougherty with Caterpillar has permanently retired.  His trustee position is available.  If anyone is interested in either of these positions, please contact either Michele Baker at micheleb@hustonelectric.com or Paul Felkey at paul.felkey@subaru-sia.com.
bulletJune’s meeting is available to host.  MSA is tentatively scheduled to host.  All others meeting for the year have been filled.

bulletPaul introduced Jerry Hebert with Indiana 03 Consulting.
bulletIndiana has 35 inspectors (3 different categories):
bulletIndustrial Hygienists
bulletConstruction Inspectors
bulletGeneral Industry or Safety Inspectors
bulletHazardous Industry
bulletInspected once every 5 years.
bulletPriority Inspections
bulletFatalities (8 hours to call OSHA.  Phone #317-232-2693)
bulletCatastrophe (3 or more employees ADMITTED to the hospital)
bulletEmployee Complaints
bulletNon-formal (anyone can file)
bulletFormal (employee can make complaint)
bulletReferral Inspections
bulletAlways respond to any complaints that are brought to you by employees.  If not, their next step is to call OSHA.
bulletWall to wall comprehensive inspections – on average, about every 5 years.
bulletOSHA inspector should show proper credentials.
bulletYou do have the right to ask for a warrant.
bulletInspectors must tell you why they are there.  If it is a complaint, you have the right to ask to see the complaint.
bulletOpening conference.  Someone from management should be there representing your company.
bulletLook at OSHA logs and training programs.

 

 
bulletInspection.
bulletInspectors will write up what they see, interview employees, and take photos.  (Take pictures of what inspectors are).
bulletClosing conference.  General idea of what they found.
bulletOSHA has 6 months to get back with you with a safety order.  If violations are found, penalties will be included with the safety order.
bulletMust post safety order for all employees to see.
bulletJerry Hebert suggests having an informal hearing. 
bulletAbate all items you are cited for and respond on how you took care of them.
           Pay fine.
