Our next GLASC meeting will be held on February 15, 2006 from 12 - 1:30 p.m. at Caterpillar (Visitors Center).  There will be Roundtable Discussions.  Lunch will be provided.

January Meeting Minutes

January 11, 2006
Paul welcomed everyone to the first meeting of 2006.
Sign in sheets.
Introductions.
Paul thanked those members who attended the annual GLASC meeting held last month at The Trails.
 

New Business: 

Treasurer’s Report = $2,756.58.

bulletPaul is taking over the webpage this year, however he is experiencing problems with his internet provider at this time.  Hopes to have that resolved soon.
bulletPaul showed everyone the GLASC ad that ran in 1/7/06 paper.
bulletOur next meeting will be 2/15/06 @ Caterpillar.  It will be an open forum discussion.  Lunch is provided, so please RSVP by 2/9/06 to either Michele Baker or Andy Parker.
bulletDirect Calling.  Are members willing to call a few prospective members or members that have been inactive?  If interested, please contact a board member.

Paul introduced Donna Majewski with Great Lakes (Chemtura) who presented this month’s meeting on Hazcom.

○   Labels/other forms of warning.

bulletDefinitions & Acronyms:  Provide a list of the terms/acronyms applicable to your operations.  Put it into words your workers can understand.

Do you need an MSDS sheet for White Out or Windex?  Not if you are using the same way as a consumer.

Physical/health hazards of the chemicals present in the workplace.
      • Measurers employees follow to protect against the hazards (emergency procedures, PPE).
    
 How to read/understand MSDS’s & labeling systems.

Focus on your organizations Haz Com compliance processes/systems – not teaching the “OSHA standard”.
