Next GLASC Meeting

Our next GLASC meeting is 3/22/05 @ MCL Cafeteria in W.L.  This meeting is being hosted by Randy Beaver with Barron & Associates.
         

February Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order @ 1:05 by John Dougherty.
Emergency procedures.
Introductions.
John thanked last months host Paul Felkey & SIA for hosting and the presenters Mike Stultz with Steel Grip, Inc. & Tom Reed with Kirby Risk.

Old Business:

None.

New Business:

There will be no April meeting due to the ASSE Conferences.
Vacancies are still available to host a meeting. 
Treasurer’s Report: $3,011.11

LEC Safety Culture
    - Zone offense
    - Accident Investigation
    - Safety Captains
    - Awareness/Visibility
    - Safety Shop Procedures
    - Certification
    - Supervisors Annual Evaluation

● More than Policies, Rules, Training, & Statistics:
    - Behavior based
    - All levels of organization
    - All activities
    - Developed from a quality program to address defects

● Injury Map
    – Updated Monthly (Injuries only – not recordables or lost time).
   
- Lacerations
    - Ergonomics
    - Contusions
    - Eye
   
- Misc. 

● Accident Investigation
    - Must be 100% complete or it will be rejected.
    - Pay attention to unsafe acts & conditions.
    - Must reference safe job procedures (SJP).
    - Most cases will require observation by line supervisor of Employee working safely & according to updated SJP.
    -         Must include activity schedule for abatement.

    ● Safety Captains
        - All major areas from each shift are represented.
        - Safety captains are technicians.
        - 2 way communications
        - From the floor to management
        - To the floor from management
        - Safety discussion lead by safety captains in all line up meetings
        - Peer to peer contact.
        - Play a role in safety recognition.

   ● Awareness/Visibility
        - Daily posting of any previous 24 hr. injuries in work area.
        - Major incidents posted at employee entrances for 24 hrs.
        - Individual injury map displayed on area boards. 

   ● Certification
        - CAT Internal certification
        - QS/ISO 9001 + additional CAT requirements.
        - Safety items to be determined.

   ● Supervisors Annual Evaluation
        - Annual performance review
            (Safety is 25% of annual performance review)
        - Accident investigation
        - Supervisor safety training attendance
        - STOP observations
        - New injuries
        - Unsafe condition abatement 

Lessons learned:

Major challenges:
