Ideal tools are the first to have successfully passed UL certification.
Employees shall use insulated tools or handling equipment when working
inside limited approach boundaries of live parts.
Symbols to look for on tools:
- UL
-VDE (German or European equivalent to UL)
-Double Triangle
-1000v (all standards)
-GS
Care of insulated hand tools:
-Do not use if the outer insulation cracks, breaks, or becomes damaged
in any way.
-Destroy if the inner layer shows through the outer layer on double
insulated tools.
-Keep full sets together.
-Store away from moisture.
-Limit exposure to chemicals.
-Wipe tools clean before storing.
-Store away from heat sources.
