Next GLASC Meeting

Our next meeting will be held at the Caterpillar Visitors Center on February 9th at 1:00 pm.  Program and Speaker TBA.
         

January Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order by GLASC President, Paul Felkey at 12:17 p.m.
Paul went over emergency procedures.
Sign in sheet was passed around.
Introductions.

New Business:

25th year for GLASC – any ideas on what we can do?

Paul thanked last month’s host – Kathy Frederick with Simplex Grinnell & the presenter, Michael Crafton with Facilities Management.

If anyone has ideas on topics for future meetings, please e-mail Paul or Michele with them.

April 13th & 14th the ASSE Conference is being held at the University Inn. GLASC will not hold a meeting that month.

The elected officers for 2005 are:
            Paul Felkey – President
            Joyce Peterson – Vice President
            Andy Parker – Treasurer
            Michele Baker – Secretary
            Denny Smith – Trustee
            John Dougherty – Trustee

The audit was conducted at the board meeting on January 6, 2005.

Tom Reed with Kirby Risk – Ideal Insulated Hand Tools
Ideal tools are the first to have successfully passed UL certification.
Employees shall use insulated tools or handling equipment when working inside limited approach boundaries of live parts.

Symbols to look for on tools:
       - UL
       -VDE (German or European equivalent to UL)
       -Double Triangle
       -1000v (all standards)
       -GS

Care of insulated hand tools:
    -Do not use if the outer insulation cracks, breaks, or becomes damaged in any way.
    -Destroy if the inner layer shows through the outer layer on double insulated tools.
    -Keep full sets together.
    -Store away from moisture.
    -Limit exposure to chemicals.
    -Wipe tools clean before storing.
    -Store away from heat sources.
