The
meeting of the GLASC was called to order by Paul Felkey at 1:05
pm.Old Business:
Paul thanked
Donna
Majewski and Great Lakes Chemical for hosting
this months meeting.
Paul also thanked
Virgina Peck of Ball Corporation and Heritage Group for last months
meeting. Paul noted that the Tour of the plant and the presentation were
great. The lunch was great too.

New Business:
Nominees for the GLASC Council need to be turned
in next month. The vote for new officers will take place in November with
the swearing in of the new officers at the December meeting.
Paul asked everyone to please send
in nominations.
The December
meeting does not have a presenter yet.
Larry Lucas of
Eli Lilly noted that he has not received any RSVP’s for October’s
meeting. The reminders will go out to all members next week.
Joyce will send
out the information regarding the ASSE conference this week.

Feature Presentation:
Rite-Hite
Corporation’s presentation for our meeting today, covered Loading and
Unloading Dock Safety. Paul thanked both Rite Hite and Donna @ Great Lakes
Chemical for today’s meeting.
The loading dock is
considered a danger zone. It is a busy area, and the 4’ drop off is
considered a danger zone. There is limited communication, people are
located on the inside and out. Many truck drivers are in a hurry to drop
off or pick up their loads.
Twenty-five percent
of accidents happen at the loading dock. Rite Hite presented an over view
of what hazards are present on the loading docks and what preventative
measures can be taken in order to make the dock a safer place.
