New Business:
On the OSHA.gov web site the proposed rules for electrical standards is
listed. You may make comments on these new proposals, with the cut off
date being June 4th. This entails the NFPA 70E standard being
incorporated into NEC.
Andy Parker, Treasurer, stated that there is $3,215.55 in the GLASC
treasury, with two new members signing up. They are Tippecanoe Sheriff’s
Department and Quest Environmental.
Bruce Guiliani, and ASSE member was in touch with Donna Majewski
regarding the CIASSE Conference in West Lafayette, go to the ASSE web site
for further information.
The Chamber will be doing the Governors Workplace Safety Awards.

Feature Presentation:
Today’s Meeting Topic “Lower your Mod Rate”. Today’s
speaker was Stacy Woodhams with AMSERV. Stacy covered how workman’s
insurance is paid by a company for personal injury or death of an employee
on a work site. Worker’s Comp is state
regulated.
She went on to explain the facts and fictions of
workman’s compensation. Stated what the employer’s options are in order to
get an employee back to work.
GLASC member Kirk Saylor of Lafayette Family Services also stated that
Family Services offers employers the opportunity to put men on restriction
to work with them. This being a benefit to both employer and Family
Services: Men can go back to work and get off of Workman’s Comp while
fulfilling charitable work to Family Services. The workers pay check is tax
deductible.
