Next GLASC Meeting

Our next meeting is January 15th time and place to be announced.

 

December Meeting Minutes

The December meeting was held on the 11th at the Radisson.    Stephanie Berry & Ashley Bandini of NETS spoke on How To Host A Safe Party and Defensive Driving in Winter Weather.

The meeting started at 11:30am and Paul Felkey welcomed everyone to the Greater Lafayette Area Safety Council meeting.  He announced that 2002 is the 22nd year of the GLASC.

Old Business:

E-mail addresses are needed for all future correspondence.  All invoices, newsletters, and company membership information will be sent out electronically in 2002.  Please let Michelle Levell michelle.levell@subaru-isuzu.com know your e-mail address to update the GLASC database.

New Business:

A sign up sheet for 2003 meetings was passed around.   Anyone interested in hosting a meeting or presenting a topic please contact any of the Officers and they will pass this information along

Paul also announced that in 2003 we will be presenting hosts and speakers with gifts as a thank you.

Invoices for 2003 dues will be sent out electronically and will remain at $35/company.  Also, if you bring in a new paying member for 2003 your companies dues will be waived for 2004

Also, Officer Dan Larson has expanded his Workplace Violence Training to 3 ½ hours.  If you are interested in having Officer Dan at your facility for this outstanding training please check out his website at   www.workplaceviolence.us  contact him at  workplaceviolence@hotmail.com.

The 2002 Officers were presented and thanked for all of their hard work in 2002.  The 2003 Officers were then sworn in by Mary Blair – the outgoing Vice President of GLASC 2002.  The 2002 Officers will be presented with a GLASC padfolio as a thank you gift for their service.

Congratulations to our new 2003 Officers!

Feature Presentation:  

Stephanie Berry & Ashley Bandini work out of Methodist Hospital which is part of Clarian Health.  They announced that there new 12 month safety programs are ready and can be purchased if anyone is interested.  Please contact them for information on this.

Below are 4 recipes that they passed out for safe holiday party hosting.

Merry Berry Fizz
2 quarts of apple cider
1 ½ quarts cranberry cocktail
¼ cup brown sugar
3 inch cinnamon sticks
1 ½ teaspoons whole cloves

Heat to boiling; reduce heat and simmer 15-20 minutes.  Strain.  25 servings (about ½ cup each)

   

Snowball Buzzless Bubbly
1  46 oz can pineapple juice
1
  46 oz can apple juice
1  12 oz can frozen lemonade
½ cup sugar

  28 oz. Bottles ginger ale (chilled) 

Combine juices, lemonade and sugar.  Stir in sugar until it dissolves.  Freeze overnight.  Remove from freezer 3-4 hours before serving.  Place in large punch bowl and add ginger ale.  Do not add ice.  Makes 1 ½ gallons.

    

Holiday Cheer Egg Nog
1 pint pecan coffee creamer
1 pint toasted almond creamer
1 pint cinnamon vanilla creamer
1 quart half & half
2
 quart Southern Comfort brand NON-alcoholic eggnog 

Combine all ingredients and serve chilled or over ice.     Recipe from Betolini’s.

         

Mistletoe Chill
3
  ice cubes
½ cup cranberry juice
2
 tablespoons raspberry sherbet
¼ cup eggnog
1 tablespoon strawberry daiquiri frozen concentrate fruit mixer (non-alcoholic)
Sugar
Peppermint stick

Chop ice cubes in blender.  Add cranberry juice.  Add raspberry sherbet & eggnog.  Pour strawberry daiquiri mixer in blender.  Blend for 1 minute.  Dip rim of 8 oz. Glass into sugar.  Pour mixture into glass.  Serve with peppermint stick.  1 serving.
