The August meeting was
held on the 14th at BAS. Steve Wettschurack of the Tippecanoe
Emergency Management Agency was the presenter and presented current safety
issues in Tippecanoe County.
Paul Felkey welcomed
everyone to the Greater Lafayette Area Safety Council meeting and thanked
Ted Boyce for hosting the meeting. Jean Lear went over the Treasurer’s
Report for July, we have $3185.32 in the account per the last bank
statement.

Old Business:
E-mail addresses are needed for all future correspondence. All invoices,
newsletters, and company membership information will be sent out
electronically in 2002. Please let Michelle Levell know your e-mail
address to update the GLASC database.

New Business:
Donna Majewski proposed
that we look into becoming a member of the Hoosier Safety Council at no
cost and let the Hoosier Safety Council become a member of GLASC. You
receive a $25 credit for your business to join and there are five
different classifications to pick from to fit your company. You will also
receive a $100 discount on the annual conference.
Donna also stated that the
Hoosier Safety Council was so impressed with the Cumberland Place
facilities that they will be using this again for the 2003 Annual Hoosier
Safety Council meeting. This is set for April 29th – May 1st.
The theme for 2003 is “Catch the Wave.” Get with Donna if you are
interested in being a part of a sub-committee.

Paul Felkey announced that
nominations for 2003 Officers are due in October, the council will vote on
the nominees in November and new officers will be sworn in at December’s
meeting.

Feature Presentation:
Steve Wettschurack of the Tippecanoe
County Emergency Management Agency was the guest speaker and the topic was
Current Safety Issues in Tippecanoe County.
He stated that there has been an increase in
activity in the last two months and he showed a video Terrorism in Indiana
and how this affects first responders.
